From then on there was only one winner and the decisive goal came 16 minutes from time when Derek Temple latched on to a mistake from Wednesday’s Gerry Young running through to slot past Ron Springett. This was a great cup final full of flowing skillful football from two excellent attacking teams – one of the very best.
