Collection of two documentaries charting the courage of those caught up in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. ‘9/11: Answering the Call – Ground Zero’s Volunteers’ remembers those who put their lives at risk to try and save others during the attacks, from the firefighters who went into the burning towers – many never to return – to the hordes of volunteers who picked through the rubble of the collapsed buildings, looking for survivors. ‘The Untold Story of Flight 93: A Portrait of Courage’ recalls the heroism of the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93, the only hijacked plane not to strike a target on 9/11. This was due to the decision of those on board to try and regain control of the aircraft from the terrorists rather than passively await their fate.

9/11 Answering the Call – Ground Zeros Volunteers: The world has come to remember September 11th as one of the defining moments of the 21st century. The date when everything changed and the U.S. became victim to an act of terrorism beginning with the bombing of the World Trade Centre. When the Twin Towers were attached firefighters were among the first to the scene fighting against raging fires collapsing buildings blinding dust and cries for help risking their own lives to save those caught in the attacks. This programme commemorates those who lost their lives in the attack those whose lives would change thereafter and especially those who put their own lives in danger in order to save others. Beginning with the horrific images of the 9/11 attacks this DVD goes on to depict the heroic experiences of Ground Zero’s volunteers – Firefighters tradesmen church and relief organisations and just ordinary people who felt compelled to help. Retold and relived through reconstructions of the events and actual footage from Ground Zero as well as interviews with those involved with the rescue operations.
