Lee Van Cleef stars opposite James Mason in this spaghetti western. Gang leader Roy King (van Cleef) becomes re-involved with his ex-wife Alicia (Gina Lollobrigida) when she and her new husband, Montero (Mason) hatch a plot to steal $1 million from the Mexican government. However, when the plan goes wrong, King and his men are captured by rebel forces and taken to their stronghold. There they are besieged by the Mexican army until, in desperation, the rebel leader asks King to lead the defence.
