On Saturday May 10th 1969 an England side slick and firing on all cylinders mauled the cream of Scottish football talent. Alan Ball’s ceaseless chasing was a major factor in helping Martin Peters and World Cup hero Geoff Hurst to score a brace apiece. A groggy Scotland with McCreadie and Bremner outstanding could only reply through Stein and England got sweet revenge for their 3-2 defeat in 1967.
