As the 1960s ended the Apollo mission programme completed its detailed exploration of the moon. Back on earth it was the Soviet-American space agreement that led to the world’s two super powers collaborating to expedite the exploration of outer space. The beginning of this new exciting era saw the first Apollo-Soyuz mission in 1972.
