New Head Teacher Rachel Mason makes her first appearance at Waterloo Road when Jack Rimmer’s determination to improve exam results leads him into taking risks to secure the school’s future. Teacher Tom Clarkson is struggling to maintain a normal life playing single dad to Chlo and Mika but both girls face challenges of their own. Other new staff includes a Deputy Head who looks set to rock the boat in the classroom and bedroom a woman with a mission in mind and a new drama teacher Matt Walker who plans to grab headlines with the school’s first musical ‘Park Side Story’. But corruption is rife in the tendering process to build a new training centre at the school with Rachel Mason coming under pressure from a blackmailing builder to secure his interest in the bid. What secret is she trying to hide – and how much will it cost the school? The pupils create as many challenges for others as they face themselves when a group of eco-Warriors decide to make the school greener at any cost a young student faces deportation leading to an immigration crisis and one young girl falls victim to a predatory supply teacher.
